Luna Maia is a San Francisco based queer poet/performer/curator who writes about issues of mixed heritage, feminism and gender identity. Luna has featured at cafes, bars, libraries, bookstores, performance spaces, Universities and the SFLGBT Center in cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward,Tucson and Los Angeles. Luna has performed four consecutive years in Queer Cultural Center's National Queer Arts Festival, in addition to four curatorial efforts for the festival. Luna has received an Honorable Mention for the Xochiquetzali Poetry Award and recently an Individual Artist Native American Cultural Equity Grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission. Luna had an essay published in Loudmouth Magazine and has work pending publication in a couple of anthologies.
